Early Treatment Involves Knowing the Symptoms and Signs of Cancer
Diagnosing cancer in its early stages is important for a successful treatment. It is important to be aware of what may be out of the ‘norm’ for your body and reporting any questionable changes to your health care professional as quickly as possible. Some things that you may spot can be directly related to the early stages of cancer.
Lumps may appear that are strange and these need to be reported. A lump that turns out to be from cancer will most like have no pain. Lumps are usually nothing to do with cancer but should still be checked to be on the safe side.
A nagging cough and breathlessness or hoarseness can be caused by many things like infections and inflammations but sometimes it is due to lung cancer. Having these problems last for more than two weeks is an indication that there could be a real problem and it is best to report this to your doctor and have it diagnosed. Always consult a medical professional if you have cancer symptoms or lung cancer symptoms.
Any color changes in the stool needs to be reported especially if it becomes much darker than usual, has blood or is very red. Bleeding that happens without a known cause is a signal that something is very wrong and it must be seen by your physician. When the bleeding is from the nose it is usually not due to cancer but it is still important to consult your physician. The first thing you should is call your doctor if you have cervical cancer symptoms.
Having moles does not necessarily mean you have cancer but they need to be reported. Unexplained weight loss may not be cancer related but there is something going on and a consultation with your doctor is wise. The best thing to keep in mind is that if you notice something about your body that does not seem right or gives you reason for concern, let your doctor know as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that the greatest chance you will have to have successful treatment if you do have cancer is to get help as early as possible.
